Kerm Laiy’s Transformation Story
From Darkness to Light - A Testimony of God’s Love
Hello, my name is Kerm Laiy. I was the first person in my family to believe in Jesus when I was 13 years old. At first, I only went to church because I wanted snacks, prizes, dolls, and coloring books.
Before I believed in God, my life was very difficult. My parents divorced when I was 3, and my mother became seriously ill. We lived in a house that was almost falling apart, with holes all over the roof. When it rained, we had to run out because we were afraid it would collapse. We often slept under my grandmother’s house on one small bed—my mother and her three children—and my mother would stay awake until the rain stopped.
One day, I heard about free English and computer classes in my village, and I really wanted to go. But when I later found out it was a Christian church, I didn’t want to go after that, because people said believers in Jesus do not respect their parents. Later, my friend and I secretly joined the class, and the teacher invited me to church on Sunday. I kept going because it was fun, and I also wanted prizes.
Eventually, I accepted Jesus. God spoke to me through the Bible, and I learned that God teaches us to love and honor our parents. As I learned to pray and read the Bible, I became sure that God truly loved me. God gave me hope, warmth, and a smile, and I began serving Him by teaching English to children. I was especially touched when my mother also believed in Jesus later on.
In 2019, I finished grade 12. After graduation, I applied for many jobs but received no response. Then Cambodia Village Outreach called me to work, and I knew God was answering my prayers. Through this organization, God has provided for my family. Now we have a safe home, and I was able to continue studying all the way to university.
Thank God, the people in my village have also begun to see Jesus through believers, and many now send their children to church every Sunday. Thank God for changing my life and my family’s life. Without Him, my life would not have the light it has today. ❤️✝️
Thank you so much. May God bless you. 🙏
